For once, he saw him coming. Had a few scant seconds in which to think.

Feigned ignorance and stepped marginally sideways, toward the edge.

Calculated the angles and the odds and then just . . . waited.

Felt it, rather than heard it. The gathering force behind him, the swift rush and lastly, the soft footfalls, as bare feet swarmed across the planks.

Calculated the launch, the trajectory, the timing and then just . . . stepped sideways.

Watched him fly past in an inelegant arc, a mid-air curse followed by the splash.

Water drenched the landing but only a few drops spattered on his bare forearms.

He turned, smirking, hands on hips. Waited.

Spluttering, kicking, decidedly soggy, Viggo rolled over and looked up through spiky lashes, palming water from his face.

“Nice try.” Sean said mildly.

“Cunt.” Viggo grinned.
