Forgive me if this doesn't belong here (I'll delete it if it doesn't), but I don't really know where else to ask. Does anybody know where I can find a transcript of Fran and Philipa's commentary during the river bank scene? I know Philipa says something about them parting like lovers, but I cannot, for the life of me, find out what exactly she says. I'd really appreciate this.

PETER JACKSON: We did feel that we wanted them to go into Amon Hen and to Boromir's ultimate sacrifice and death with a certain amount of estrangement, because the last time we had a scene between these two characters, obviously it was a scene with much more warmth, in the Lothlorien forest.

PHILIPPA BOYENS: We wanted those two great characters to part on bad terms. It's almost like lovers. That adds pathos, of course, to the death scene.

FRAN WALSH: By the time we had left Lothlorien, their relationship has shifted and moved on; it has become more intimate.

Because, of course, they couldn't be intimate in Lothlorien because of Wrath of the Grandmother. *nods philosophically*

*snerk* I took that to mean that they WERE intimate in Lothlorien, and they needed to be artificially forced apart for the pathos.

...and after this, Fran and Philippa have an argument of sorts about the riverbank scene itself and whether it should have been included. PJ says it was a matter of pacing -- once they're on the river, they need to keep moving -- but Fran doesn't think Aragorn and Boromir would have had this sort of argument at this point, whereas Philippa obviously loves the dynamic. *g*
