"We’re winning," Viggo mumbled sleepily as he watched Sean’s beloved Blades play a match on TV. Sean nodded, his head resting on Viggo’s chest and a small smile touched his lips at Viggo’s use of ‘we’. If he had been back in England the match would have been shown at a more humane time but since he was currently staying at Viggo’s ranch in Idaho the match had first begun at three a.m. and it was close to four now. Sean knew that Viggo had no real interest in soccer, or more correctly he had no interest in soccer at all, but Sean could talk him into watching matches with him all the same. Besides, Viggo had owed him one for that dreadfully boring poetry reading thing he had allowed Viggo to drag him to.

"Will Henry be home this weekend?" Sean asked, half lifting his head from Viggo’s warm chest to seek his eyes. Viggo shook his head or tried to, with the slightly shorter man laying as a blanket on him.

"No, he’s staying with Katrina," Viggo answered and absentmindedly stroked Sean’s blond hair. "I think those two are getting serious," Sean teased, and Viggo smiled at that.

"Maybe. She’s a sweet girl."

"Yeah. A bit odd with her anti- everything but sure," Sean agreed, trying to kill a yawn. He was going to watch this match no matter what. Viggo grinned as he saw Sean’s efforts to hide his yawn. Even now, six years after they had finished filming Lord of the Rings together Sean still loved soccer and his favorite team, the Blades, with just as much passion as he had the first day Viggo had met him. Viggo had always let Sean watch his beloved game in peace, knowing he preferred the silence when he watched it but with time Sean had willingly begun to make small talk while they watched matches together, and now it was common between them. If anyone else should speak while Sean watched his game, he would completely ignore them unless it was one of his daughters or Henry.

"Better than that soldier he had home two years ago," Viggo grinned at that memory. The young soldier had been nice enough but in Viggo’s opinion slightly brainwashed. However it had been fun to discuss politics with him, as Viggo had always been and remained a pacifist at heart. Sean had stood more on the sideline, supporting a few comments Viggo said but it wasn’t until the whole issue of Britain’s role in the world was brought forth that Sean’s patriotism shined through and he had made several good points for his country’s side of things. Viggo’s bond with his son was strong, and had always been one built on complete openness and trust, so Henry had known from the beginning that Sean and Viggo were dating. He remembered the first time he had brought Sean with him home to meet Henry. Sean had been so nervous, wanting badly to make a good first impression on Viggo’s son. Then Henry had opened the door for them, hugged first his father and then Sean. Henry had smiled at Sean, a teasing gleam in his eyes only his dad had caught, and asked if he was the Sean his dad had talked so much about. He then promptly assured Sean that his room was in the other end of the large house so Sean and his dad should have plenty of privacy to "abuse his dad’s bedroom" as he had put it. Sean had been too shocked to say anything but Viggo had laughed so hard he had feared his very far away neighbors might hear him.

"I think he dated that guy just to see if he could get a rise out of you," Sean smiled at the memory as well. "Henry once complained to me that he wanted to rebel against you like his friends did with their parents but no matter what he did, you supported and understood him. Poor bugger didn’t have anything to rebel against in his teens."

"Yeah. I can see how that must have been terrible," Viggo teased along, having a warm and nice feeling inside just laying here in his living room with Sean and talking. Giving in to that warm feeling inside he bent down and planted a soft kiss on Sean’s forehead.

"Mr. Shrink, I’ve had a terrible childhood. My dad has always supported me and been there for me. He loves me and we’re friends and really understand each other. It’s a really big problem for me," Sean played on, trying to mimic Henry’s American accent with not much success and they both grinned.

"Very funny," Viggo mock complained. As the laugh died Viggo tightened his arms around Sean, whose attention had returned to the match on the screen.

"Bloody Hell!" Sean swore when the opposing team scored a goal. Viggo smiled.

"Do you have any idea how sexy your voice is? Especially when you’re cursing?" Viggo whispered in Sean’s ear, his breath warm against the other man’s skin. Sean turned around in his embrace so that he was looking at him.

"You might have mentioned it once or twice but it never hurts to hear it again," Sean grinned before his lips claimed Viggo’s. Viggo deepened the kiss and tightened his arms around Sean until the other man broke away for air. When Sean’s eyes found Viggo’s again they were shining with love, warmth and desire.

"Keep looking at me like that and you won’t be able to watch the rest of your game," Viggo threatened and Sean grinned.

"Maybe it’ll be worth it," Sean’s voice was a low and sexy purr. Viggo stroked Sean’s cheek lovingly.

"Stay with me." The words were out his mouth before he had time to think them through.

"I already am," Sean answered, confused, the desire in his green eyes dying to be replaced by confusion.

"No, I mean…" Viggo stopped. What did he mean? What did he want? He had thought about this before, more often now after Henry had moved away from home to attend college. He wanted to get this right. He fought to get up to a sitting position. Feeling his desire to move Sean slipped off him until Viggo had his legs up under him on the sofa and Sean sat next to him, also having his legs on the sofa. Sean looked uncertainly at Viggo until the other man opened his arms and reached for him. Sean smiled warmly and willingly let himself be buried in the well-known and loved feeling of Viggo holding him. "I mean… Stay with me forever," Viggo finished his sentence, pulling Sean a bit away from him so they were eye to eye.

"Forever?" Sean repeated, dumbstruck. They had talked about their relationship after the first Lord of the Rings film had premiered and they had agreed to keep it a secret… There was no need for anyone to know. It would only complicate matters. So they had phoned and mailed each other, visited more and more often which had resulted in Sean having spare clothes and things at Viggo’s and he at Sean’s. At first it had been a bit of a test of who was to be visiting whom, because they both loved their homes. While Sean hated to fly to get to Viggo, he in return much rather preferred the peace and quiet of Viggo’s ranch to the busy streets in England where he had his home. Now they just ended up at whoever’s place was most convenient. More times than not, that ended up being at Viggo’s, because his house was more of a home especially when Henry had been living there. Sean’s apartment was more a place to crash than anything else.

"I know we’ve never talked about the future, never thought that far ahead but I love you and I want you with me. Always," Viggo admitted, his voice warm and sincere, his eyes filled with love and hope.

"We decided once to keep it a secret, mostly for the sake of our kids. Well, Henry’s all grown up now and he has known about us for years and obviously doesn’t mind," Sean admitted, thinking out loud. "My girls… They’re all adults now as well but I’m not sure they’ll understand," he admitted, sadly. "They were not raised by such an open-minded person as Henry was with you. My ex-wives had custody over them and you know how bitter divorces can get…I doubt they told any awe inspiring stories about me."

"Not telling them about us won’t change that or the fact that we are together," Viggo reminded him gently, compassion and shared hurt in his eyes for his lover. To lose the love of one’s own child had to be terrible. He couldn’t imagine what he would do if he lost Henry’s love. "But you don’t know they’ll react badly to this situation. After all… There have been rumors about us for a long time now. Some of them must have caught on by now," Viggo tried to find that famous silver lining.

Sean shook his head but smiled at Viggo, trying hard not to drawl on what could become one of the most painful episodes of his life; a child who would refuse to have anything to do with him. "It’s not important right now. What’s important is that I love you too -- and I want to be with you always," Sean admitted and smiled, his eyes warm and filled with love. For the first time ever he could say those words and truly mean them, thinking, believing and feeling that this was right and forever.

"You’ll make it official?" Viggo asked, trying to hide some of his happiness at the thought. He hadn’t known before now just how much this secrecy with their relationship had annoyed him. As if they had anything to be ashamed of which they hadn’t. Viggo had never had any trouble with their relationship but he knew Sean had had to overcome a lot of fears and prejudices within himself that his background had given him. Though Viggo had been ready long before now to officially say Sean and him was a couple he doubted Sean had been ready. The slightly younger man had fought with feelings of shame and old prejudices based on religion and what he had been told a ‘real man’ did and did not do. His failed relationship with Orlando had also hung between them for quite some time. Now it seemed like things had finally settled down. Sean had managed to kill the poison his upbringing had brought him in regard to same sex relationships and he had also with time managed to let go of Orlando though they remained close friends. Because of their relationship Sean and Orlando shared to this day a special report Viggo knew he could not break, not that he would ever want to try. Though he in the beginning had feared Orlando would be a rival for Sean’s love he now no longer felt that way. Sean and Orlando would always love each other but it was a love that simply could not be. Like Romeo and Juliet, their love had been hot but would in the end have killed them both. Still, the glow remained between them and Viggo had accepted that, knowing he was Sean’s choice and knowing that he was the one who had won Sean’s affection, loyalty and love forever. It was gift he was thankful for every day; the knowledge that he had found what almost everyone else was still searching for…The One that was just right for him.

"I don’t plan on making an official statement but if anyone asks me from now on… I’m with you," Sean declared and brought his lips to Viggo’s.

"You know that poem I wrote some years back that you liked so much… The one called ‘Forever Is In Your Eyes’?" Viggo whispered as Sean drew back.

"Yes?" Sean encouraged him to go on.
"It was for you. Forever is in *your* eyes," Viggo mumbled softly before his lips were reclaimed. Sean felt a wave of awe and warmth wash over him. No one had ever written anything to him and just to know that a poem which had become quite popular in intellectual circles was in fact about him made his heart beat faster with pride and joy. He would deny this strong reaction to Viggo’s kind gesture if ever asked for this softer side of him no one but his daughters, Viggo and Henry ever saw. Unlike Viggo who had never had a problem getting in contact with and admitting to his more emotional side, something amplified by his art, Sean had never been comfortable with it and still today only that small handful of people would ever see just how deep Sean’s emotions ran.

"Lov’ you," Sean whispered against Viggo’s lips.

"Love you too," Viggo whispered back. Viggo’s threat became a reality and they did miss the rest of the match -- though not before Sean had made sure the VCR was running.

There are so many things I love in this! Your portrayal of Henry, his relationship with his father, the gentle but deep love between Viggo and Sean, Viggo's acceptance of Orlando's place in Sean's heart ... so many!

... and the fact Sean remembered the tape the rest of the match *G*.
