A Matter of The Heart

Viggo never told Sean what the fortune cookie said. He laid store by words much more than Sean.

But Viggo’s mood was odd for a while and nights were unpardonably bereft, leaving Sean feeling empty, excluded.

Miles apart, many phone calls later, they got to the essence of it.

“But Viggo, I shall love you when we’ve grown old together. It’s not a matter of the flesh, but of the heart”.

The next day, on top form, Viggo was asked “When did you last cry and why?”

“Last night because of a beautiful thing someone told me on the phone”.

That's a very, very appropriate use of the prompt and a very lovely drabble too!

There's a longer tale of love and doubt, hurt and reconciliation and hope, packed into a very small space and a clever use of the prompt. thanks for sharing.
