Date: 2013-05-19 06:05 pm (UTC)You said that writing this story has helped you going through a difficult time - from what I understand the worse seems to be behind you and I'm glad for that :-) - and you have no idea of how much it helped me as well. My health issues are nothing too bad, but I've been stuck at home without being able to go out at all - apart to go to the hospital, how fun... - for nearly 3 months now. I'm not a very social person and quite isolated too, and I can count the visits I received in 3 months on the fingers of one hand, so please believe me when I say that your new chapters always made my days :-) So thank you again for sharing.
I could go on and on again about how brilliant it was, but instead I'll just make a suggestion (even though I'm quite sure you did not wait for me to think about it...): write a novel. I'd buy it. Even if the characters' names were not Sean and Viggo ;-)
You're so good at creating a universe that you could totally write a full novel, the kind of saga that would require to be published in several tomes. I am thinking Zola again here, your characters were all so well-written they all deserve a book of their own, kind of like he did with the whole Rougon Macquart saga - I would read a book about Michael's life after this "faith crisis" that Viggo provoked, and another one about Grace's life in Boston, and yet another one about the Mortensens before they got rich, and one about Sean's youth, and one about Mr Halloran's too, and yet another one about Viggo's younger sister Agnes (she's being the perfect daughter and doing things the "appropriate" way, but isn't she going to regret it?), and I'd even be interested to know about Harry's past, since we just found out that he was even worse than we thought... Oh and one about Sarah Van Cortlandt's life too (even though I did have to go back to chapter 16 for her complete name).
Anyway, what I'm trying to say here is that you have an incredible talent and that even your secondary characters are so well described that we just *know* that they have a life of their own and we want to hear more about them. Well at least I know that I do.
Also, I finally realised that if I clicked on the link at the top of this page I'd find a wonderful fanfic archive (yes, intellectually challenged sometimes too...), and I read your story "Entrechat Cinquante". To be honest I could not care less about ballet and yet I *adored* it. Again it was so obviously well documented and there were so many details that I could just see it in my head as clearly as a movie. Wonderful!
So I'll say it again: write a novel!
And in the meantime, maybe, a couple of additional scenes of "The Need of Comrades" would be lovely :-p Or maybe an epilogue, like a scene from their future, so we know how things turned out for them...? I mean Mr Halloran did not stop at the 2000$ check... He did change his will so Sean inherits everything after his death, didn't he? That's why his lawyer kept giving Sean suspicious looks, right? Right?? *is desperate for more*
Ok. I think I'm done now. Longest comment in the universe, sorry!! Thanks again!

Date: 2013-05-20 02:36 am (UTC)Yes, it did help me, mentally, and I'm happy if it helped you as well. I'm sorry about yours. I know about being trapped at home with medical appointments your big social event of the day - ugh. I'm hoping to go back to work in a month or so. Can't wait, in fact. I really hope your health improves soon!
I have, in fact, written a novel and am trying to flog it to someone. I haven't made an effort recently because other events have eclipsed the importance of trying to sell it, but I'm going to get back on the horse. It's a World War Two book and I hope someone will be interested. :) I'm so delighted that you'd be interested in reading more about the characters! That's so nifty. Thank you. :D
I'm glad you liked Entrechat Cinquante, too! That's one of my favorite pieces I've written in this fandom. I don't know if I'll consider Need of Comrades for more, but my policy is to never say never! Thank you so much for reading, and for leaving such thoughtful comments. It's very, VERY much appreciated. Thank you.

Date: 2013-05-26 10:46 pm (UTC)I'm sorry to hear you were going through chemotherapy, but I hope now you're on the other side of it. My sister-in-law has been going through chemo and radiation for breast cancer for the past 6 months and it's been tough on the family. My best wishes for you and your family for this holiday weekend. Take care.
