A lie. A pretty, sparkly lie.

The spasm shatters the darkness; grabbing hold of Viggo’s left calf, turning the muscle to a bowl, brimming with agony.

For a moment pain is all there is and then Sean’s warm hands are chasing the pain away while Viggo clutches his shoulders and almost sob from the pain and the absence of pain and the bleak hopelessness of fatigue.

Then he is pulled back down on Sean’s chest and drifts for a while on his heartbeat, only realizing that he called out for Sean and that Sean heard him just as he passes back through the gates of sleep.

I've read through this a few times now... something in it really pulls at me.

Thanks for posting this up!

Sean - always the cure for what ails our Viggo. Remember the time he cured Viggo's migraine? I do.

and if I remember rightly, not just that he cured Viggo's migraine, but his particular course of treatment - not something you would normally see written up in the New England Journal of Medicine ... more's the pity.

I don't think Lancet or JAMA would recommend it either. Silly doctors, what do they know?

perhaps we should suggest a randomised controlled trial, but only if we can choose the subjects, the methodology and the controls (!) And of course it would be in the interests of people suffering from cramp and migraine ... :-)

"orgasm" mentioned as a great pain-killer
Ah, the joys of endorphins. The body's natural heroin, it is. :-)

Great drabble -- I loved this, as someone who gets leg cramps regularly (but at the worst possible times, like in the middle of ballet class, when there's no Sean helpful hand available).

oooh, there's something very evocative about this; Sean as the cure (and that wonderful sense of connection between them ...)

Very soothing. And very realistic, the pain that is. It's those little moments that define a relationship.
