Challenges, Challenge Replies, and a Partridge in a Pairing Tree

For convenience's sake, and because I wanted to do something for this community, I decided to go and try to find all the challenges post to this community, as well as all replies to it. (and if these could get onto the site, that'd be nice. *hint*)

Which means I need your help.

Challenge replies are tricksy little things because some of them aren't mentioned as replies in big bold letters, so I miss them. I also know I'm missing several challenges, especially Karelian's Poetry one.

If you posted a challenge reply and it's not listed, reply to this with the link or with the approximate date you posted it to the community. If you posted a challenge, ditto.

I know it wasn't mentioned before, and I feel horrible about that. don't feel like I'm pressuring you, because I'm not. Just thought it would be a good addition.

Well, if we're thinking about it now, I'll need more details. How much information will there be about challenges? Challenge Title, Challenge Description, and the fics entered in the challenge. Date issued, maybe? Any other info needed? Will we have open/closed challenges, or will they run indefinitely?

well, unless they have close dates (and I don't think any of them do), I think they're indefinite. Title is a good thing, so is description. I think the full text of the post should be copy/pasted in there somewhere. After that, yeah, the fics.

Date issued, yes. Issuer, yes. (that's not bleeding English, I know. the one who challenged). Those should be at the top of the page, followed by the title in bold, then a short description under in italics (like: Rugbytackle Icon Challenge [br] Make a fic from someone's icon.)


I can't think of anything else.

Ah yes, challenger. That's one we should have. :-) I'll see about getting started on that tomorrow. Layout suggestions can be passed onto milochka, I just make sure it works. *g*

now, if I could only remember what they said in the commentary about the river cut scene. Was it filmed in studio or on location? Can't remember. I know the gollum-on-river was in studio, but not sure about the rest of the scene.

Just jumping in here quickly before getting back to RL shit...

Um, don't bother making these fields searchable. There are too few challenge fics to make it worthwhile, really. Probably best is just displaying them all on a separate browse page -- just like author.php -- and I'll call it up via a link button called "Challenge Fics".

Lemme know if I missed anything or if that doesn't make sense. :-)

Yep. It won't be searchable. I figure it'll just display on the headers:

CHALLENGE: [ -- insert challenge name here -- ]

And clicking on the challenge will unveil the other fics in the same challenge + the challenge details. :-)
