Aug. 25th, 2003 12:38 pmTitle: It feels so good
Author: Inge
Pairing: Viggo/Bean, one indication to Orli/Viggo and Orli/someone else.
Rating: PG-15. Methinks.
Summary: A relationship can change; the question is if Sean is ready to admit that. He’s not too sure himself.
Warnings: Slash
Disclaimer: This obviously didn’t happen. Sean, Viggo and Orlando own themselves, I only own the story.
Notes: Oh, how I loved writing this. Even though it has the fluffiest end ever.
At first, it was just friendship. Two mates, having dinner together. Sharing experiences, having a good time. It made the both of them feel comfortable. Of course you always had Orli, trying to prove Sean and Viggo were more than 'just friends'. But that's typically Orli, always looking for something new and exciting.
All Sean did was laugh about it and continue whatever he was doing. He and Viggo were friends, nothing more. And besides, Orlando had no right of speaking, since he gave the impression he was doing everyone on the set. Which wasn't true of course, everyone knew he wasn't.
Sean and Viggo talked about Orlando every once in a while, wondering about his seemingly endless energy. And in a way, Sean admired the younger actor for being so able to keep standing in the rather tough acting world. So young and so talented... Viggo had told Sean that when he spent time with Orli, it was almost as if his energy and youth were infectious.
But in the end, Viggo and Sean ended up together and developed a very close bond. They respected one another, and ever since the beginning they’d been thick as thieves. They shared the same interests, and they could talk for hours.
At first, it was just about friendship.
The first time Sean noticed a difference was the day that they shot Boromir’s death scene. It had been an exhausting shoot for Sean and Viggo, both physically and emotionally. It had almost been too much for Sean when he was lying there, surrounded by ‘dead’ stuntmen and –women dressed as Orcs and Viggo leaning over him, the emotion obvious in his voice and his eyes.
Sean almost forgot his lines then. Almost ruined a take, which would force them to that agonizing scene again. Only that knowledge helped Sean hold it together and he managed to continue, throwing every bit of emotion he had into those lines.
"I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My king."
Sean can see that Viggo almost collides as well, and when he speaks his voice is rough with emotion. The tension in the air is almost visible, but Viggo being Viggo he doesn’t screw up.
“Be at peace, son of Gondor.”
And that’s it. Viggo presses a soft kiss on Sean’s brow, and the scene is over. Peter yells the word they’ve both been waiting for unconsciously, “Cut!”, and Viggo helps Sean get up.
Sean continued as if he isn’t completely trashed by the scene, as if he’s totally in control, and listened to Peter’s praising words.
Viggo however had disappeared, and as soon as Sean realized that he went to look for his friend. He found him in front of his trailer, head in his hands and outright sobbing. It was then that Sean realized how strong their bond was.
Seeing his friend like this threw Sean off his feet. It showed that Viggo was deeper into his role than anyone else was, the death of Boromir affecting him as the real death of a friend.
And that was typically Viggo. Viggo, who almost got arrested because he took his sword everywhere. Viggo, who wanted to glue a tooth back on to continue filming. Viggo, who is more than acting the role of Aragorn. Viggo, who *is* Aragorn.
Crazy, more-than-meets-the-eye Viggo. His Viggo.
It should’ve felt strange for Sean to be around a gay man. He wasn’t attracted to men the way Viggo was (something he had told Sean during one of their dinners), but he didn’t care that Viggo did.
The occasional touches that lasted just a bit too long and the eye contact should’ve warned Sean, but he chose to ignore it.
The bond between Viggo and Sean grew stronger but the tension reached its peek when they were at Viggo’s place, studying Viggo’s paintings. By then, Sean had acknowledged to himself that yes, something was weird. He just didn’t know what yet.
But when Viggo kissed him, and his stomach did a little dance, he got the point. And it freaked him out big time.
Sean wasn’t gay. Okay, so maybe he wasn’t a hundred percent straight either. Three fucked up marriages with women might’ve proved that. But falling for one’s best friend wasn’t particularly a smart thing to do, and Sean knew that perfectly well.
So Sean backed off, apologized and ran, leaving an utterly confused Viggo alone. And despite his guilt he didn’t return.
The next day on set they avoided each other as much as possible, but Sean did notice the flirtatious looks Viggo and Orlando exchanged. Or maybe he was just seeing things that weren’t there. Either way, it drove him mad, and when he caught Viggo and Orli making out behind Orli’s trailer he completely lost it.
He didn’t know why, but seeing Viggo with someone else (and especially Orlando) was infuriating. Viggo was his.
But when Sean had managed to get rid of Orlando he was beyond words, all he could do was stare at the ground and wait for Viggo to speak. It had dawned on Sean that maybe he did have a crush on Viggo after all. A stupid teenage crush, yet it wouldn’t let him go. He wanted Viggo, but he wasn’t ready to fully admit he could feel such a thing for a bloke yet either.
For Viggo, it was a bit too much.
“Fuck it, Sean. What do you want? First you run off when I make a move, completely freaked out, and now you chase Orlando away as if I’m yours! Just fucking make up your mind, would you?”
With those words he strolled off, hurrying after Orlando while Sean was mentally cursing himself.
But the change between them didn’t go unnoticed. After all, when two people who used to be practically undividable suddenly try to avoid each other, it just can’t go unnoticed. However the first one who dared to bring it up was Orlando.
“What’s going on between you and Vig?”
That simple remark almost caused Sean to break down and shout at Orlando, tell him that it was none of his business. But of course, he didn’t do that. Instead, his eyes darted up from the script he was reading to meet Orlando’s dark brown pools of concern, a look that made him shiver.
“It’s nothing, really. Just leave it.”
“Don’t tell me it’s nothing Sean! I’ve never seen the two of you like this, it’s terrible. Have you had a fight? Or..” Orlando didn’t finish the sentence as comprehension hit him. “It’s about Viggo and me, isn’t it? Come on Sean, just admit it.”
Sean wanted to deny, but he didn’t. He just looked at Orlando, confirming what Orlando had already realized.
“I thought so. That’s fucking insane, Sean. I don’t love Viggo. I have someone else.”
“Well, you and Vig were pretty caught up in each other when I last saw you.” Sean stated quietly, his gaze pointed at the floor once again.
And Orlando sighed. “That was nothing. Viggo was crying, I tried to cheer him up and things got out of hand. Those things just happen to me somehow.”
That remark made Sean laugh sarcastically. “Orlando, kissing someone doesn’t ‘just happen’, at least not with me. Besides, you’re a much better match for Viggo anyway. Just forget it.”
“That’s not true, and you know it Sean. Just fucking admit that you love him, go kiss and make up. Because really, your mood is depressing for everyone.”
Deep inside, Sean knew it was true. He had known it all along. He just wasn’t ready to admit it.
“I’m not sure, Orlando. I let him down once, I’m sure he doesn’t want me any more.”
“Oh, he does. Take my word for it.” Orlando smirked when he saw the surprised look on Sean’s face, and continued: “Just give it a go, mate. I’m sure Vig is all too happy to forgive you.”
Sean decided that Orlando was right. He had to tell Viggo how he really felt, and if it didn’t work out it was his own stupid fault. But hey, if you don’t try anything you never get anything either, right?
“Thanks, Orlando.”
Sean dropped the script he was holding and turned around to find Viggo, and Orlando watched him go with an amused smile. “Go for it, Bean.”
Sean found Viggo at his own trailer, sitting in front of it with a book in his lap. He wasn’t focused on the story though; his eyes were staring at something only Viggo could see. Swallowing the lump in his throat and trying to ignore his heart and its attempts to go into overdrive, he sat down next to Viggo.
“Hey.”
The familiar blue eyes met him, staring at him with indifference. “What is it?”
Sean almost ran then, almost found himself not brave enough to ever face Viggo again. But he ignored it, and tried to find the right words.
“Listen Vig… I’m sorry. About everything. I never meant to hurt you.”
“Well, you did.”
“I know I did, and I’m sorry. I guess I just wasn’t ready for… whatever it is I want. What I thought you wanted as well.”
That caught Viggo’s attention, and he looked at Sean with a mix of curiosity and sadness in his eyes. “What is it you want, then?”
“You. Us. Together.”
There, he’d finally said it. Sean seriously wanted the ground beneath him to open up and swallow him, which it obviously didn’t. Wishes like that are never granted. Instead, the silence that hung between them lasted long enough to make Sean suspicious, but when he looked up at Viggo again he wasn’t met by the expected anger or disgust. Instead, Viggo looked at him and smiled.
“Now, was that really so hard to say?”
When Viggo’s lips gently brushed Sean’s, Sean let himself go. He could finally admit how he felt, and as he melted into Viggo’s kiss he sighed. It felt so right, so perfect. So good.
And it still does.
