Title: "Here Today", Part 3: I still remember how it was before.
Pairing: Viggobean
Rating: PG-13, only because there's a swear word.
Author: fantasy_land
Summary: They haven't talked in a month
Warnings: None that I can think of.
Feedback: Yes, please, definitely
Disclaimer: Pure fiction, made it all up. Lyrics are property of Paul McCartney and the characters are property of themselves.
Notes: Ficlet based on the song "Here Today" by Paul McCartney, the full lyrics to which can be found here. Continues about 2 months after part 2. I'm not sure how long the total story will be, but there will be at least two more after this, eventually.
As Sean sat on his couch, watching the telly and listening to the radio at the same time, since nothing good was on, the stupid McCartney song which seemed to come on all the fucking time! came on again and got itself stuck in his head. It reminded him of Viggo, which was bad since they hadn't talked in almost a month. Sean wasn't a big talker, especially not over the phone, when he couldn't see the other person's face. They both made an effort at first, but the phone thing just didn't work very well. Everything had seemed so much easier before, in New Zealand -- no need for conversation because they said everything they wanted to say with their bodies. When they did talk, it was light, domestic stuff, like who'd vacuum the living room before the hobbits got there (usually Sean) or who'd cool dinner that night (also usually Sean) or who'd go out and buy groceries and beer (Viggo, but only because Sean was busy with the laundry). Sean felt that tight-throat feeling that came right before tears and was shocked at himself. Grown men did not cry, he thought fiercely. The song in his head mocked him. "But as for me, I still remember how it was before, and I'm holding back the tears no more. I love you." He did love Viggo, so much that it almost (he underlined the word "almost" in his mind) made him cry.

Date: 2003-09-30 01:58 am (UTC)sean will definitely be happier soon...not in the next installment, which i'm currently working on, but probably in the one after that. i don't think i can leave him so unhappy for two long.
i'm really glad you're enjoying the series! it's always nice to know people are reading!
