a mini fic
Nov. 7th, 2003 01:55 pmThis snuck out while I was working on something else. One moment I was fiddling about with Lancelot when my WMP (which was on 'shuffle') happened to play one of Ashinae's Prophecy vids right after AJJohnson's Equilibrium music video. I just had to open a new document and this little bit of fic poured out in a matter of an hour. The folks on RugbyTackle are likely the only people that will understand this mess, so I thought I'd share the insanity.
I think it's a wardrobe thing. Lucifer's gown/Cleric robes... shrug.

Sin… was quite often a matter of personal perspective. With each civilization that rose, and then fell, humans altered their moral and religious beliefs. Even something like murder, which was the ultimate sin at one point in time and space, could be considered a casual crime by another population. Because of this, traffic into Lucifer’s realm ebbed and flowed with each shift in human morality.
At this point in the world’s development very few souls were entering Lucifer’s domain, and those that did were quite undeserving of punishment by almost every standard that had gone before them. Libria was sending Lucifer un-sophisticated idealists. Still, the fact was that these ‘sense-offenders’ had committed the gravest sin possible within the frame-work of the world they lived in, which meant that at life’s end they belonged to Lucifer. It was laughable. Most of them would have been sent elsewhere if only they had managed to live just a few more years. The end of Libria was in sight and with the coming change in perspective, these same sinners would be considered heroes.
It was likely because of the sub-standard quality of most of the new arrivals that Lucifer noticed Errol Partridge. This was no mere ‘sense-offender’. Errol had killed innocents. He had used and betrayed people who had trusted him. Errol had lied, destroyed things he had revered, and he had practically committed suicide, although he had used another’s hand to perform the actual act. Most damning of all, Errol Partridge doubted his own convictions. If the man had simply believed what he was doing was right, then Errol would never have come into Lucifer’s hands.
For his part, Lucifer was delighted. It had been so long since he had come across a new plaything that he wasn’t even certain where to begin with Errol Partridge. Errol, however was kind enough to practically request Lucifer’s opening gambit. Whereas most of Libria’s souls arrived in Lucifer’s realms naked as the day they were born, Errol’s soul had instinctively cloaked itself in full cleric regalia. Copying and slightly altering the outfit, while maintaining his own preference for a more biblical-era grooming, Lucifer appeared in the dark void that Errol had envisioned as the after-life.
“Welcome home, Errol.”

Date: 2003-11-08 05:55 am (UTC)I'm guessing it might kick in hard however when I finally get to see Equilibrim at the end of this month. I haven't actually seen it yet, I've just devoured the screencaps, the fanfic and the draft copy of the script I've found on-line.

Date: 2003-11-09 05:16 pm (UTC)Thank you much for the praise, it's all the more valuable since I was very nervous about writing a movie character I haven't seen.
