Something Viggo had always noticed while on a movie set was how intense a relationship could become. He was never sure if it was because of their roles or a natural chemistry with his co-stars, he never really did stop to think about it. When he was on the set of Lord of the Rings, it wasn't different. Truth be told, it was more intense than for any other movies. Viggo attributed it to the fact that they were on set 24/7, in a different country, and no occasions to really detach themselves from the movie. Bonds were created; friendship ran deeper than usual.
Never before had he experienced something as intense as what he had with Sean Bean.
When it had first started, Sean was having a bad day. Everything had gone wrong and his mood was suffering from that. Viggo had crossed his path and found himself pushed against a wall and lips crushing his own. The pressure of the movie was weighing heavily on Viggo's shoulder, so he kissed Sean back forcefully. There was nothing wrong with finding some release with a friend.
In the privacy of a room nearby, Sean took Viggo's clothes off carefully. He might be having a bad day but he wasn't stupid. Peter would have hurt him if he had damaged Aragorn's costume. Viggo though, didn't have to worry and tore away Sean's shirt, buttons flying off.
Sean's hands were all over his body, teasing him, touching him. Viggo wasn't sure how many hands the man had and he didn't really care. Wanting to explore too, Viggo's hand reached out, first caressing Sean's chest and moving to his back. Without any warning, Sean grabbed him, and minutes later Viggo was lying flat on the floor, Sean kissing him deeply. Everything after that was a blur to Viggo. Sweating, moaning, licking. It was so intense that his mind couldn't grasp a precise thought. He just lived it.
He expected an awkward moment afterward. But there was none. Sean kissed him lightly on the lips and sat up, staring at Viggo with sparks in his eyes. Viggo felt lighter than he had ever did since the beginning of the filming so he smiled.
"Thank you." Sean said quietly. "I really needed that." Guilt flashed through his eyes and he tried to hide it from Viggo.
"So did I." Viggo said, still smiling. "Do not ruin this with guilt, Sean. I could have stopped it but I did not."
Sean grinned, any trace of guilt gone from his face. He stood up and offered his hand to Viggo. "Come on, mate, someone is bound to come looking for us soon."
Viggo gladly accepted the offered hand and pulled himself up. They dressed quietly, as no words were needed.
Both men went their separate ways and didn't mention that day again. Viggo considered approaching Sean about it, talk it out. He soon realised there were no awkward moments between them. Never did a conversation stop because they were uncomfortable. Nothing had changed.
Viggo figured they had helped each other during a bad day and left it at that.
A few weeks later Viggo could see Sean tensing again. Eyes narrowed and teeth gritting. Orlando and the hobbits avoided Sean as much as they could. Viggo observed him for a few days, wondering if he should do something.
The decision, as it turned out, wasn't his. Coming back to his loft after a particularly long day, he found sitting on the couch.
"Sean?" Viggo asked tentatively. Sean looked up, a small uneasy smile on his face. And Viggo understood. Without saying another word, he walked to Sean and pushed him against the couch. Sean's eyes never left his as Viggo slowly moved until he was straddling Sean's waist.
They stared at each other for a few minutes, not moving. As much as Viggo liked aggressive sex, he knew it wasn't what Sean needed. He felt Sean relax under him and knew it was time. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Sean's, kissing him deeply. Sean moaned quietly, his tongue joining Viggo's in a battle. Viggo's hips were mimicking the motions of his tongue, thrusting forward and back slowly, teasing Sean. Sean's hips lurched forward, a small gasp escaping his lips as he felt his erection rubbing against Viggo's.
Taking control, Sean moved forward and Viggo followed his lead, soon finding himself lying completely on the couch. Sean was on top of him, still kissing him with no apparent sign of losing breath. Sean's hands were blindly reaching for the buttons of Viggo's shirt. Viggo was doing the same.
"Much better." Sean said, finally breaking the kiss and looking down at Viggo's chest. He licked his lips and dived in for another kiss.
As they moved together, both realised pants were highly overrated. Sean broke the kiss again as his hands reached for the front of Viggo's pants. Leaned forward to kiss Viggo again, he stopped and looked down at the pants, cursing. "What's wrong with those?" He mumbled. Viggo laughed and pushed Sean
off of him.He stood up and took off his pants. During that time Sean had turned on his back and was looking at Viggo.
"Take off your pants." Viggo said before walking out of the room. Sean stared at the entrance of the living room, a puzzled look on his face but taking off his pants anyway. Viggo walked back in, a tube of lube and a condom in his hands. Sean grinned.
Viggo climbed on top of Sean. Sean was quiet while Viggo got him ready. A small moan escaped him before he gasped as Viggo was in him.
Viggo moved slowly, his eyes locked with Sean's. "Bad day?" He asked quietly.
Sean thrust up in time with Viggo. "They.were." He gasped and closed his eyes in pleasure. "Pissing me off."
"They mean well." Viggo whispered. Sean opened his mouth to say something but only a quiet cry was heard. Viggo leaned to kiss him, his movements more frantic. Breaking the kiss and hiding his face within the crouch of Sean's neck, Viggo came quietly.
They both stayed still, panting with Viggo lying on top of Sean, his head against Sean's shoulder. Sean was playing with Viggo's hair, twirling it between his fingers.
Several minutes went by before any of them moved. When they did, it was in a lazy movement. They both got dressed and Sean left quietly, murmuring a thank you to Viggo as he closed the door.
Viggo didn't go to sleep until late that night.
The next day was just like any other day. Except for Viggo who couldn't shake away the feeling of Sean's hands on his body. He tried to pay little attention to it but wasn't quite successful. A hint of regret was filling his mind. He and Sean had been friends since the beginning and he had never even thought that it could be more. The recent events made him wonder if something could have happened. If they could have been involved on a deeper level than friends and sex.
It was like those songs. Romantic poetry about friends falling in love.
It was the last thing Viggo wanted to think about.
Instead he concentrated on his surroundings. The atmosphere was calm. Until Elijah ran by, yelling at Billy to leave him alone. Billy had a water gun in his head and was trying to catch up with Elijah, but failing miserably. Viggo leaned against the trailer and observed the scene unfolding in front of him.
Then, out of nowhere, Sean appeared and grabbed Elijah, holding him in place. "I got him, Billy."
Viggo smiled at the amusement in Sean's voice. Billy's eyes were sparkling evilly and Sean's were amused. Happy.
Viggo thought he might have put the happiness there and it made him feel better. Sean looked up at him and smiled softly at Viggo before moving his eyes down again.
"Well done."
Viggo didn't have to see him to recognise Orlando's voice, who had apparently joined him against the trailer.
"What would you be referring to, Orlando?" Viggo said calmly, his eyes not leaving Sean, who was still holding Elijah while Billy was properly soaking him with his water gun.
"I know why Sean is walking funny. And smiling. I think it's great. You two are perfect together." Orlando pushed himself away from the trailer and joined in the fun of torturing Elijah.
Viggo frowned as more romantic poetry invaded his mind.
To say that Viggo avoided Sean during the following days would be a lie. He just didn't stay around longer than it was necessary. He didn't smile as much when he was around the rest of the cast, too lost in his own thoughts. Too lost in the memory of Sean. He was aware of the quiet whispers when he left without a word. He tried to not think about Sean's confused looks.
Viggo found that task rather difficult when Sean was sitting in his living room, again.
"What are you doing here?" Viggo asked casually. He didn't look at Sean. Didn't dare to look at Sean.
"You helped me out. Twice. Time to return the favor." Sean said and he stood up. He took a few steps and stood in front of Viggo.
Sean grabbed Viggo's chin with two of his fingers and forced him to look at him. Viggo did and did not blink as Sean was gazing at him. Sean offered a small smile before leaning forward to kiss him. Viggo closed his eyes, enjoying the sensation, and the feeling it was giving him. He was guided away by Sean, both of them moving to the bedroom. It was the first time Sean was seeing it and yet, he didn't pay it much attention.
Viggo woke up the next morning and knew something was different. He was not alone. Sean was next to him in the bed, yawning loudly as his eyes fluttered open. Viggo sat up, his feet on the floor and his head leaning against his palm, arm propped up by his knee.
"'Morning." Sean said sleepily.
"I think you should go." Viggo replied, so quietly he could barely hear it himself.
"What?" Sean asked, surprise in his voice.
"Leave, okay?" Viggo said sharply, turning his head lightly.
"No."
Viggo stood up and paced a few times before turning to face Sean. "I cannot do this anymore, Sean. It is better if you leave."
"No. There's something wrong. I'm not leaving until I know what." Sean said. He was tempted to stand up, but his lack of clothes stopped him from doing so.
"I don't do casual. I can't. It is not working for me." Viggo said as he pushed the curtain of the window away to look outside.
"It doesn't have to be casual." Sean said, unsure. Viggo could have meant many things. Sean decided to risk it and hoped it meant what he thought it did.
Viggo turned around at Sean's words. He stood there, analysing Sean's words, Sean's behaviour, looking for a trace of mocking. Sean smiled the most sincere smile he could provide.
Viggo smiled in return as some romantic poetry was definitely in his mind.

I love that. It's so perfect, and I think it's so true. What a great observation!

Bravo, and one more vote for a sequel!
