You are not an idiot - you are just inexperienced and they don't really handle that well on this community. There is absolutely no need for you to leave - Evendim wouldn't want that but if you want my opinion "Why would you want to stay?" Move on and have fun somewhere else where they do not penalise you heavily for putting a toe out of place!

Please don't leave. You made an honest mistake and have apologized repeatedly and I have not read anyone who regularly frequents this community who is at all angry with you -- the argument that has erupted seems to have stemmed from a comment by someone else on your post and a bunch of people jumping down her throat (I have NO idea what that was all about, but there was no excuse for the tone of those posts even if the posters may have somewhere in the nastiness had a point). Failure to name a writer whose name is on the post in question anyway is not a gross violation of fannish etiquette, just a minor omission, and I have NEVER seen anyone react so ridiculously to someone else getting excited about one of her stories and wanting to pimp it!

and considering that it was a link to FF.N where the author already has stats, instead of an archive that might not have the e-mail on the actual story, only on the listing, it's even less of a violation.

All you did was recommending a fic you liked--which is a GOOD thing--and I for one didn't see anything wrong with you not mentioning the author's name, because you LINKED to that story, and people clicking on the link could see the author's name, the title and all the credits on that page, intact. You did nothing wrong, so there's nothing to 'forgive'.

Do stay, and write that plotbunny you were talking about! :)

Hey, no worries. It wasn't your fault. Your original post was perfectly polite and welcome in the community. It was just the responses that got out of hand, and none of the respones were to you. So don't worry about it!

I'm really sorry, but I had to delete your original post. The flame-war happening in the comments (which was NOT your fault) just wasn't stopping, and deleting the whole post was the easiest way to stop it. :-) I think this sort of thing has only happened once or twice before in the community; hopefully it won't happen again.

Hi, wanted to say you are not an arse. You did nothing wrong as everyone here has been saying. It was YOU who were wronged in addition to evendim the writer of the fic you were so inspired by. You linked to her fic it wasn't like you didn't give them credit, the credit was already there in the linked fic so that to me is a moot point.

I agree with you, I found the fic to be adorable...sure it wasn't perfect but who is? If anyone is daft enough to claim they are then I will glady fly round the world and kiss them on their most puuuurfect rump... which is like never. :) Anyway everyone makes mistakes, mispells a word, runs into doors, trips over their own feet, or in my most recent show of superior grace falls flat of their arse in front of their boss and almost takes them out in the process...none of us are perfect.

So don't fret sweetie! You had your heart in the right place unlike some who let their keyboard run away with itself. It happens on all lists sometimes, even the best ones like Rugbytaclking. Someone has a bug up their bum because their dog ate their favorite shoes or something and they take it out on someone innocent like yourself. You can't see them so they don't have feelings...that whole idea.

Please don't leave because of this and please write to your hearts content. Heck even Viggo said that he didn't write to please other people, he did it for himself. If other folks like it great, if not...they don't have to read it and certainly don't have to like it. (I paraphrased of course.) :)

For those who don't know about this community I couldn't care less, but for us who love it and stay on I, for one, wouldn't want to see you leave.
