I kicked on to check the mail and look at Jommy's site... I tripped over this along the way...

The top left corner of the screen in the white sidebar... some in-character pictures (of all sorts from Boromir to Eowyn) are behind the small green (or red) four piece squares.
Below that and by itself is a small red symbol. The real people stuff is there. The paint-can link gets you sent to a page with a few A/B type pictures.

Normally, I have no opinion on RPS fanart, but these two made me crack up:

Karl Urban: 6'1
Sean Bean: 5'11

In Japanese slash fandom, there's this so-called "height rule" wherein the taller one always gets to be top.

Ok, I'm tired, and it doesn't really make sense why I found it funny, but I surely got a kick out of it. ^_^;

You're right, it is funny! Thanks for sharing the translation. Its so frustrating sometimes to see pictures like these and not be able to put them in context.

Viggo Mortensen: 5'11
Sean Bean: 5'11

This is interesting because I've seen estimates ranging between 5'10" and 6'1" for Viggo, but no matter where you look Sean's height is always listed as 5'11". And yet I always see Ian McKellan's height as 5'11" as well, but he seems taller than Sean in most press photos.
Weird. *shrugs*

The Japanese Viggo & Sean Fan Union (http://shamon.cool.ne.jp/lotr/union_vmsb.html) list Viggo and Sean as being of the same height (http://shamon.cool.ne.jp/lotr/union_bio.html). We can then assume that, for all intents and purposes, Japanese fans see them at the same height.

Now that's an interesting bit of info. Thanks. I do the art search thing by luck and the seat of my pants... it's always neat when someone can offer a bit of insight.

The height rule is pretty much based on the fact that the tops almost always have the dominant personalities and look more manly, while the bottoms are rather... simper-y, femme-y.

Of course, it's nice to see the height rule get broken in good fanfiction. >)

I noticed that this fanartist(s) likes Men. I poked around the rest of the sight and confirmed my suspicions. (http://www.geocities.jp/pitipiti8/site.htm) Their Plan/Idea (second row of the tables) reads off as something like:

Artist (middle-column): Aragorn supremist. Beard-love old-man-love. I LIKE (the race of) Men. Love-love/adoration to Boromir. Eomer-fanaticism currently rising.
Writer (right-hand column): Boromir supremist. Beard and old-man-symptoms starting to show. Love-love/adoration to Aragorn. Lovestruck with the race of men!!!! Love for Eomer and Faramir currently rising.

Nice to see that Sean/Viggo sentiments are alive and well in Japan. :D

It seems like in the vast majority of LOTR manga art I've seen, Aragorn's the top and Boromir's the bottom (same with Sean/Viggo). Someone who was trying to explain yaoi convention to me said that it's because Sean is blonder (and Boromir is a lot blonder than Aragorn). Very odd convention!
