May. 23rd, 2004 12:27 pmTitle: The Two Mortal Men (2/?)
Pairing: VG/SB
Rating: G (still nothing happening. depressing, isn't it?)
Summary: Viggo gets on set.
Notes: Evidence of my rambling on. Gonna try to speed things up.
Viggo cursed as he tried to find the phone. He didn't know what time it was, but it was too damned early. "Hello?"
"I'm sorry to wake you, Mr. Mortensen." The voice at least had the decency to be hushed. "Someone will be by in an hour and a half to take you to wardrobe."
"Alright. Thank you." He lay in bed for a moment more, and then got up. The hot shower got the last of the soreness from the plane ride out, a sudden switch to cold water managing to wake him up. Pulling out the old jeans and T-shirt he always wore to fittings, he got dressed and made his way to the kitchen. The coffee left by the other actor wasn't his usual, but it would pass. A glance in the refrigerator showed some bacon and eggs that were still good. As he cooked his mind went back to Sean.
He told himself he was just trying to remember the movie he had seen him in. But his memory lingered on the man's body as well as his face. Shaking his head to chase away those kinds of thoughts, he retrieved his script before sitting down to eat.
************************************
Two hours later found him finally on the set. Then it was a blur of costume fittings and wig fittings and alterations. The one still moment was when they showed him his sword. He was amazed to realize all the weapons had been made specifically for the movies. As he lifted the 'Hero' sword, he knew he had to be as comfortable with it as possible, to make it an extension of himself. He asked if he could take it with him, more then half expecting a gasp of horror at the very mention. But they allowed it. He started to leave then stopped. Remembering how Ngila had talked about his costume appearing as if Strider had maintained it himself, he turned back and asked how Strider would keep the sword sharpened. The look of surprise gave way to a thoughtful one and the promise of a mock sharpening stone.
Viggo walked back to wardrobe, head bowed as he adjusted the sword belt around himself. So he didn't see the tall figure in front of him til it was too late.
"Sir Ian, my apologies. Are you alright?" He picked up the fallen writing pad and handed to the older man.
Ian couldn't help but chuckle at Viggo's anxiousness. "Yes, I'm fine. No harm done." An appraising eye swept over him. "I see our fearless leader has finally arrived. Viggo, is it not?"
"Yes, Sir Ian."
Another chuckle. "Please. Ian will do."
Viggo smiled. "Ian then. Thank you." He looked around. "I have never been a set like this. Not just the number of people, but the attention being paid to everything."
"It is impressive. And perhaps a bit daunting?"
Viggo sighed, his hand running thru his hair. "A bit."
"Concentrate on what you're doing at the moment. Not on everything at once. And the others will be more then happy to help you in anyway they can. Have you met anyone else?"
A quick smile crossed Viggo's face. "Sean picked me up from the airport last night. I've been looking for him. Have you seen him?"
"The Elder or The Younger?"
"I'm sorry?"
"We have two Seans. Sean Astin plays Sam, one of the hobbits. Sean Bean plays Boromir. So we've all come up with ways to tell them apart. Either by surname or adding their last initial. Sometimes by Elder or Younger, and there are members of the crew who refer to them as the Brit Sean or theYank Sean." He leaned forward with a smile. "I'm sure there are just as many ways used for myself and Ian Holm, but they take care not to tell me. The Younger I believe is filming right now. The Elder I saw with Orli practicing riding."
Viggo's face fell almost unnoticeably. "I see." He shook himself. "I should be going. Ngila wanted me back after I got my sword. A pleasure to meet you, Ian." He started to walk away.
"Viggo, I believe Sean Bean mentioned something about needing his coat sleeve looked at. And it was some time that I saw him. He might be at wardrobe now. If he is, remind him we're all getting together tonight for dinner and to make sure to bring you."
The corner of Viggo's mouth twitched as he tried to stop the smile. "If I see him, I'll be sure to tell him. Thank you." His step was noticeably quicker as he continued on his way.
Ian watched him leave, a thoughtful look on his face. Finding a place to sit down, he returned to his letter.
I've just met our new Aragorn, Sean. Viggo Mortensen. A far better choice for the role. I believe I had heard he's a photographer, amoung many other things. Maybe he can decipher that infernal camera of yours for me. A wicked gleam appeared in Ian's eyes. Do not worry. There shall be plenty of snaps for you to show those catty old queens. Which reminds me, the other day...

Nah, as much as I love the smut, you gotta have a good lead in, right? I mean as fun as it would be to have Vig get off the plane and shag Sean the night they meet...um it just wouldn't be much of a story. Good porn however...but no story. hehe

Date: 2004-05-24 09:43 am (UTC)I'm wondering if Ian could tell somehow that Viggo was interested in Sean. I mean, he asked him if he'd seen Sean around and that's kind of obvious, but I mean, did he know Viggo's interested in Sean? If Sean's the only other cast member he's met then it makes perfect sense for him to want to hook up with him again, so that wasn't necessarily a clue-in. You know how you can develop gaydar? I'm wondering if Ian has lustdar. ;)
Anyway, we're chugging along nicely. I wish you'd post longer chunks [tickle] but I'll take what I can get.
