FIC CHALLENGE: Lipograms

Great job on the Pangram Challenge, folks! Though I neglected to mention that the object of the challenge is actually to make your pangram as short as possible. My bad -- sorry about that.

Continuing on with word fun, this next challenge is about lipograms.

A lipogram is a piece of writing that purposely omits a particular letter of the alphabet. For example, an entire sentence or paragraph that doesn't use the letter E.

Challenge: Write an entire drabble -- exactly 100 words -- without once using the letter R (in honour of "rugbytackle") for the VigBean pairing, or without the letter L for the AraBoro pairing. (If you write a crossover, feel free to choose B or G instead. *g*)

Hee hee, thanks. I friended you too. The third part is working its way thru the old brain pan. But I do need to post the other parts to my lj. Still thinking in terms of Yahell groups so takes a bit to think to post to my lj and link from there.

It took me forever to type this post because I kept giggling, thinking of a Sesame Street-esque scene of some shady character in a trenchcoat, standing on a darkened street and whispering, "Pssst, wanna buy a letter E?" to every person that passes by. *g*

I wanted to make these challenges difficult, but still within the grasp of writers for whom English isn't their first language (and there are many of them in rugbytackle!). Hope this one works out in that regard.

Heee! So sorry about the omission on the pangram challenge... I had it in my head, but I guess I never wrote it down. I only clued in after reading a lot of drabbles that had really long pangrams in them. *G* My mistake, but it was a fun challenge nonetheless and the responses were all terrific.

Can't wait to see how you all respond to THIS one! *cackles again*

I love word geeking! I got a couple of "word fun" books from the library and already have a few more challenges lined up for later in the summer. ;-)
