Oh, and I don't know and don't care if this was the first or last scene they shot. In this story it happened like this.
Thanks much to Piex for beta. *hugs*

Sean was used to shooting death scenes, more often than not his characters ended up dead. Yet never had a death scene been as hard for him to play as this one. It wasn't just because this made the fact that he would leave soon all the more real but also because there was so much emotion in this scene. So much of Aragorn in it and in so many ways.... Aragorn was Viggo. As Viggo came to him, spoke the promises Aragorn made to Boromir Sean wondered about his own mortality. Should he die tomorrow who would be there for him? Who would mourn him? More importantly...would he have had everything he wished? Had he said all he wished to say? Would he be able to leave this world with a sense of completion? Sean looked more intensely at Viggo, saw the tears down his cheeks.... tears for Boromir or for him?
Thinking about death and dying made Sean's thoughts go to Orli. In his years he had had many lovers and three wives but thinking back only Orli stood out. He remembered actions he had done with his wives, places they had been to together yet he had forgotten what it had felt like to love them and hold them in his embrace. With Orli it was different. He remembered everything; every caress, every kiss. He had become close friends with Orli now but there was still a sense of sadness and regret for what they could never have between them. Orli had been a great support to him since Viggo and him had drifted apart two weeks earlier after their trip in the chopper. He had known spending more time with Orli wouldn't solve his issues with Viggo but it had been welcome comfort. Orli and Elijah were still together, having fun and fooling around. He knew that for Elijah it was love while for Orli it was for fun. He really did hope that Elijah would find the happiness he so stubbornly believed he could find in Orli now that he knew he would not find happiness with him as he had once hoped he would.
In the two weeks that had passed since the chopper incident as Sean had named it in his mind, he and Viggo had barely spoken two words to each other; hadn't touched since that day. It was like they were suddenly both afraid to break the ice, both afraid to get hurt. They had gone from strangers, to friends to lovers and then suddenly back to strangers again. Like an invisible wall unspoken words and hurt emotions separated them. The silence between them held them prisoner; Viggo wouldn't speak until Sean had and he couldn't until Viggo did.
If anything Sean's thoughts of dying now that he was living out the role of doing so in Viggo's embrace made him realise a few things. He realised that life was indeed short and what was more was that he needed to decide what he wanted from life and go for it. He could not live in the past. Instead of mourning what could not be he needed to take what could be. He loved Viggo. That had never changed. Yet why did he still hesitate?
"I would have followed you.... my brother...my captain...my king," Sean rasped with his dying breath, putting all his soul and will into those words. He had fought with Peter to get the brother part into the sentence, he wanted to show how much Aragorn meant to Boromir...maybe so much more than a brother...with those words...had Boromir admitted his love for his King too late? Had he first been able to put aside his pride and fears when it was too late?
Suddenly it all seemed so absurd to Sean. What was he afraid of? The worst thing that could happen was that Viggo told him it was over but at least he would know for sure and he would know he had told him. In the days to come this would not be another regret.
"Be at peace, son of Gondor," Viggo's voice was tear filled and broken. Sean wondered if Viggo's voice would sound just as broken had it been him and not Boromir dying in his arms. Suddenly Sean was very happy to have Viggo near; he gave an aura of calm and spirituality even now in what appeared to be his hour of the greatest grief and sorrow. Sean had to concentrate hard to not follow Viggo with his eyes as he put his hands on either side of his face and kissed his forehead. The moment was sizzling with emotions as Sean felt Viggo's lips against his skin and he tried not to let a sound of pleasure at this first touch in what had felt like forever escape his lips. Slowly Viggo drew back but deep in his eyes, beneath the grief and pain Sean saw something... something deeper. A real fear... And a real love.
"I wouldn't mind dying, if it was in your arms," Sean found the words, softly spoken yet loud enough for Viggo to hear, escape his lips before he could stop them. Lost in the moment and the sensations, Sean didn't notice the surprised gasp from several crewmembers.
"You would never die alone," Viggo promised, tears still falling down his cheeks and Sean found his own cheeks wet as well. Caught up in the moment and the emotions it felt like they were alone...to Viggo it felt like the fear of losing Sean was very real and very near just like the fear of dying seemed real to Sean.
"I love you, Viggo. I'm sorry for what I said earlier but I... I was scared. It didn't mean anything. It's you I love now...It is you I want to be with; not Orli," Sean explained, his eyes holding Viggo's. A smile warm enough to melt rocks spread over Viggo's lips as his fears were laid to rest.
"I love you too. I won't part from you again," he swore and this time as he bent down his lips found Sean's, the kiss hard yet soft, filled with need and love as it promised more to come.
"Cut! Cut!" Peter yelled and his voice cut through the haze of emotions which had clouded Viggo and Sean's minds. As they lifted their heads they saw all eyes on them and suddenly the crew began to clap. Sean blushed and Viggo smiled slightly as they fought mentally and emotionally to return to reality from the storm of emotions they had just been through.
"Very beautiful, guys but I was going for a subtle approach here... not a whole declaration of love," Peter's voice was teasing. "Now, let's do it again if you boys can keep your lips to yourself for that long."
"Could be a problem but we'll try," Sean teased and Viggo gave him a quick kiss on the lips before he moved back to his starting position for the scene.
"Agreed," Viggo said warmly and Sean smiled, his eyes alight with fire and love. If anyone could watch Boromir's death scene without seeing more than a little subtle loving between Boromir and his King, Sean would be very impressed with his own ability to hide his emotions.

Date: 2004-06-10 01:57 pm (UTC)You know, there's all this discussion about how horribly we treat the main characters in our fics, but I've never seen anyone stand up and defend Peter, or argue that we're putting the poor man through agonized hell whenever we mess with his shoot. Someone needs to write a nice, fluffy fic where everything about the shoot runs smoothly, everything goes perfectly the first time, the weather always cooperates, equipment never breaks down, and actors are always where they're needed, when they're needed, properly dressed and made up, with their lines memorized and their minds completely and absolutely on their jobs. Of course, it'd be serious crack!fic, but still, I think Peter deserves it. :D
