Lipogram challenge

rugbytackleSshhh!! I've put all my crazy TM pups to sleep so I could devote myself to this.
I think no one's written AraBoro, poor pets, so this is for them and without the letter L (which wasn't easy, I really needed to use the world lovers, dammit)
It was in the darkness that we first touched.
Touched the way you do when you don't mean to stop to a touch, when you touch with more than your fingers, when your entire body becomes your hand.
In the darkness touching you was as seeing you, and seeing you with my eyes became unnecessary.
In the darkness taking you became the way of making the dark our friend and not our enemy.
In the darkness there was no steward, no ranger, just two becoming one.
In the darkness I guarded you in my arms and thought it was forever.

I like how the narrator is never revealed; it could be Boromir, guarding his King as befits a Steward, or Aragorn, guarding his Steward as befits a King. There's no distinction being made between them, or between their senses -- but there's this clarity that's heartbreaking.
