# A loud shattering noise from Viggo's room startles Sean and the cup slips from his grasp, echoing the sound.
His heart beats loudly, when he races back and opens the door forcefully. #

Viggo sits in his bed wide eyed, his wings widespread, filling the whole room. Then he looks at Sean and tears stream over his cheeks, glistening like diamond trails.
"Who are you? You were here with me all the time and held my hand. All I saw in this terrible darkness was your bright smile, your beautiful face. When I look at you, I can feel, that I love you... Please, help me, please, I can't remember. Who am I? "
Sean collapses before the bed, different feelings battle in his chest: should he be happy, that Viggo can't remember anything, can't remember, what Karl did to him. Or should he despair, because the man, whose hand he now holds isn't Viggo anymore.
He can see it in those beautiful eyes, that the man he loved is gone.
But this being, wearing Viggo's handsome features, looks even more delicate and fragile, than he ever was.
He looks like a child, just woken up from a nightmare.
"It was just a dream", he wants to say, "Go to sleep again." But those words are stuck in his throat and his hands follow their own command, follow the calling of Viggo's skin, that forgot, how it hurt once.
Viggo is trusting and innocent like he never was, when he invites Sean into his embrace, into his body with a serene smile.
And Sean is able to leave those 3 days of torture behind, 3 days he watched over Viggo's lifeless form, that now feels so very much alive.

Spring takes the paleness from Viggo's skin and brings his bright smile back on his lips. The first months were real trouble. But now they are at Viggo's house, Sean moved in some weeks ago.
Every day with his new love was like a present from whatever god was watching over them. Sean looks at his child-like lover walking barefoot through the garden, burying now and then his nose in the soft petals of colourful blooms, fingertips curiously travelling over stone, grass and soil, remembering Sean how they made love last night. Still Viggo seems to marvel every detail of his life: he would touch and taste Sean, until he went almost crazy and when he gently made love to him, his eyes were still wide and disbelieving about the wonder of pleasure.
Dropping his shoes, he crosses the few metres separating them and embraces Viggo from behind. He purrs like a cat and snuggles into his embrace.
He looks so happy and content and so young.
Is that fate's reward, that he had been able to forget everything, that broke him apart?
When Viggo was asked, what he wanted to achieve in life, he answered, that wanted to become happy. Now he is, paying the high price of losing, what had been most precious to him: his memory.
But there will be a new life, that would be worth remembering, this life now, with Sean.
Even if he grieves for the man he still loves, even if he misses his madness, this gentle wildness, so perfectly untamed.
The man in Sean's arms is fragile like grass made of the shards of Viggo's broken soul, his mind had banned all memory to stay sane, but its still there and when Viggo remembers one day, Sean will be there for him.
Somewhere behind those bright eyes, Viggo lingers, dark, hidden and sleeping. Someday Sean will wake him with a wrong movement, a wrong word, but not today. Today life is perfect, today he will learn to love this stranger.
And the year has just begun.

A fascinating, very well working end to this story. And the words you choose are beautiful.
Let's hope that there is indeed a chance for this wonderful caring Sean and his so very fragile Viggo, and that they can have a happy life together. Thanks for this story. :-)

"Somewhere behind those bright eyes, Viggo lingers, dark, hidden and sleeping. Someday Sean will wake him with a wrong movement, a wrong word, but not today. Today life is perfect, today he will learn to love this stranger. "

Last part? As in, no more? *sob*.
I loved this, and I think you've made a great end to what could have been a difficult piece to end - I particularly like these two lines

Somewhere behind those bright eyes, Viggo lingers, dark, hidden and sleeping. Someday Sean will wake him with a wrong movement, a wrong word, but not today.

Thank you.

C x.

Wow. I've been a fan of this story since you first started it. I was wondering how you were going to end it. I wondered if you could do it in one chapter when I saw that this was to be the last. You did it and did it well. Pulled it off amazingly well.

Somewhere behind those bright eyes, Viggo lingers, dark, hidden and sleeping. Someday Sean will wake him with a wrong movement, a wrong word, but not today. Today life is perfect, today he will learn to love this stranger.

I loved this bit. I think they are my fav lines in the whole story. Just the emotion behind it, the perspective. Just wonderful.

I have loved this series. You have taken a very touchy and painful subject and treated it beautifully. Thanks for the somewhat happy ending. Yay you (and Sean)!!
Still wish you would have written the fight scene. Would have liked to have seen Karl get his ass beat..
hehe!!
