Green Dark
I hear you call my name.
And it guts me.
But you don’t need to know that. Will never know that. If I don’t see your green eyes, you can’t really see into my soul. That is how it works. That is how it will work.
Why do you say my name so softly after what I’ve done? There is a question somewhere in your voice and its pissing me off. Why do you care after that? Why are you even still here? Don’t fucking dare to think you can get close. That’s not part of the deal. You were a Saturday night fuck and that’s all.
That’s all.
I gather my things from the dresser and hear my name again.
“What?”
“Are you going?”
My eyes flicker upward at your even, unemotional question and I make an error. Your eyes catch mine in the mirror for just a second and my face tightens in furious fear before the door slams shut over it.
“I am already gone.”
I hear only a gentle “Fuck you” as I am out the door and down the steps, the warmth of daylight slowly replacing the chill in my bones.
