A New Life

They lay in bed new lovers clothed with each other's body,

Most young people form couples during high school and marry soon after,

Life for them is no different,

Their hearts have spoken and their souls have joined,

But the reality of the truth is different,

They live in a world where their love is barely tolerated,

Mocked as unclean their loving an abomination,

But these two young souls find comfort in their love,

They rejoice in what they have – a love so pure as to defy the mores of society,

A love that transcends all obstacles,

A love that envelopes and nurtures,

A love that protects them always,

A love that will see them through life, cherished and wanted,

“I love you,” the young men whisper, “I love you,”

"Happy Valentine's Day my love,"

And with that said they know they will live in love forever.
