One Step Back
Fandom/Pairing: LotRPS, Sean Bean/Viggo Mortensen
Rating: PG
Length: 100 words
Warnings: Good old-fashioned garden-variety angst.
Disclaimer: This never happened. Just a writer's flight of fancy.

Note: I was in the mood for a nice punch-to-the-gut bit of angst this evening. The rest of my muses are so HAPPY! Sean and Viggo are always good for the twisty-chest feeling. Sorry, boys.

~*~*~

There were a million-odd ways to do this, but only one right way: that was the puzzle of it. I want and I need passed through Sean's mind and were just as readily dismissed. Wrong way, wrong time.

And then finally he was leaving, and Viggo was in the doorway saying goodbye.

He got almost close enough to kiss him before Viggo took one step back.

"It's not that I don't want... I just don't want it to change things," Viggo said, expression begging Sean to take it as he meant it.

"It's fine," Sean said, heart pounding. "Goodbye, Viggo."

Ouch! But I really enjoyed (hmm, is that the right word?) this. Sorry boys, your hearts may be breaking but I did enjoy it - so much said in so few words! We all know how both of them are feeling, and even if anyone hasn't been through a horrible situation like that you've written them so well we'd understand.

Ouch, ouch, ouch! *thwaps them both* Stubborn idiots. But oh, you've captured them so well, and so perfectly... *sigh* Twisty-chest feeling indeed.

Er..thanks? *grin*

*shakes head* Why they both are so goddamn dense when it comes to their emotions I will never understand.... Must be the testosterone *grumbles* But a good piece of writing as always :)

Wow, this really hurts. And all packed into a hundred words, but really well crafted and you've got me thinking about what's come before, and aching for Sean has he says goodbye. It feels so final, wonder if Vig has any idea what's he's letting go of. Glad to see more VigBean from ya, thanks! ;)
