Deep Burgundy
Viggo watched greedily as Sean took off his bathrobe. Graceful as always and yet – remarkably – completely unaware of his beauty and the effect he had on . . . well, everyone . . . Viggo thought, not just me.
Sean sighed contentedly as he sank into the warm bath, leaning back against Viggo’s chest. “So what’s with these purple candles?” he asked.
“Deep Burgundy”, replied Viggo.
“Whatever. Purple. Deep Burgundy. But why?”
“They describe you in the Lore of Colours”.
“The Lore of Colours?” laughed Sean.
“Yes – yellow’s for friendship; red’s for love; orange means desire. And Deep Burgundy’s for you, Sean”.
“Because . . .?”
“It represents unconscious beauty . . .”
End.

Thanks!

Date: 2006-08-22 02:14 pm (UTC)The established relationship was important so I felt the bath scene would do that (without using up too many words!) and I wanted to express Viggo's patience with Sean, his feelings that Sean didn't know his own attractiveness, and the thought he would put into buying a simple household item. I'm thrilled you grasped that.

Date: 2006-08-23 07:48 am (UTC)It's quite a double-edged sword - I like it because I am restricted to 100 words, but then again sometimes it's difficult to say all you want to convey in just that many. However, it seems to work . . .
