Each year as the day approached he grew silent; sadness spread from his touch, the healer’s hands a blight to hope and joy.

The moon was full, the pale, cold, light reflecting off the white walls and marble pavements as chill as the night air.

He could not sleep and had come to the fountain court, where the white tree bore pure fragrant blossoms, the perfume at its most potent under the moon.

A solitary guard stood sentry, head bowed, the white seabird’s wings to his helm stirring faintly in the breeze.

Sick at heart, Aragorn went to stand by him, gazing into the silvered pool. In the water the reflection of the feathers shivered around Aragorn’s head and he closed his eyes to silent call to his lover, not to forget him, anchored to this beloved place that had become as a prison to him.

Aragorn could hear the wind stirring the leaves on the white tree. He gazed again upon the pool and a drift of blossoms ruffled the surface of the water.

As it cleared, there was a feather-light touch to the back of his neck as of lips that brushed against his skin. A rustling and a warmth wrapped around him and a beloved voice sounded in his ear. “You are not forsaken, my King.”

In the pool’s glass, the great white wings enfolded the pair in a living sheath of pearl.

Aragorn hugged the strong arms around him, leant into the embrace that banished the chill from his heart. Boromir laid his bearded cheek gentle against his neck, kissed the pulsing vein that carried his love’s breath. The wings stirred.

“All in good time we will meet again upon the strand.”
His heart cried out, but how can I live until then?
"I am here."

Lovely imagery, but so bittersweet, Aragorn having over time felt Gondor a prison as he misses his Boromir, but I'm so glad to see that even death cannot truly part them. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful, but then again you do never less, and you never disappoint. Same goes for you Nevanoon.

This is sad and beautiful, but comforting, too, in that Boromir is still "with" Aragorn. I love the wing imagery and nevanoon's picture is also beautiful and a perfect banner for this story.

"...there was a feather-light touch to the back of his neck as of lips that brushed against his skin. "

Just what we would all hope for from a passed-on loved one . . . what a wonderfully moving moment.

I am here. And Aragorn's safe in that knowledge.

Simply gorgeous, and heartbreakingly sad, yet like all tales from Middle Earth, there is hope at the end, that things will be mended and wrongs righted.

Beautifully sad...but comforting to know that Aragorn and Boromir will walk through eternity together
