Timeless

There was a time when . . . they couldn’t get enough of each other; could spend entire nights without sleep; couldn’t keep their energetic bodies under control; could jet across two continents for time snatched together. Those first times, those hours and days and weeks and years that passed while they forgot to mark them.

Time now, ‘though passing quickly, is spent more fruitfully . . . appreciating the moments spent in passion; hands busy caressing familiar yet more frail bodies; nights used for sleeping, yet still holding those hands gently curled around each other. Every hour, every day, every week, every year, timelessly honoured.
