Reunions

If travel broadens the mind no one can ever accuse us of being narrow-minded . . . sometimes we voyage together, sometimes we voyage separately but it seems we must both or separately always travel to come together.

There are partings at airports, harbours, railway stations . . . there are reunions at airports, harbours, railway stations, hotels, home. A hold and a kiss first, tender becoming passionate. Then speech – catching up, re-learning each other’s habits; then joining bodies as well as minds.

But partings are always worth enduring when the reunions mean coming home to pillow my head in its familiar position at your side.
