summary: Viggo reflects.

You always knew: This is a man for women.

They love him - - or love wanting him - - and he loves what they give him: Definition. Acceptance. A place to hide in plain sight.

Still, you allowed it...

...allowed seductive words to burrow discreetly beneath your wire-thin defenses.

...allowed insistent presses of dangerous hands to strip away your frail resolve.

...allowed cherished thrusts of needy flesh to steal your ragged breath, your free will, perhaps, in the end, your sanity.

He does love you, immutably, immeasurably. Privately. But you're not enough.

No man could be.

You always knew.

Ooo, I really like this. It's a little bit sad, but full of careful thought, honest reflection. Maybe a hint of regret, but mostly acceptance, and there's some joy there, too. Really well put together! :)

They have no idea what's going to hit 'em. I truly wish you were coming. Next time? Oh, I took that pic on Sanibel Island. Remind me and I'll send it to you in a size that you an really see it. I've always loved your icons so I sorta icon-worshiped you.

It is hard to write about compromise, to convey the shadings of it and not seem to portray failure. This is a relationship that has the possibility for change simply because it's one based on knowledge and choice.

As I said over on [livejournal.com profile] wordsontongue I find this so sad, though wonderfully crafted and expressed. It's that line you use to begin and end it, full of poignancy and resignation. He always knew, but he couldn't help himself. Beautiful.

I have to repeat what I said over on [livejournal.com profile] wordsontongue as well. This is a really masterful piece, full of poignancy and possibility because I really have the impression that Viggo is trying to rationalize something here...

Again, a hearty thank you
